Forma Terrain TX Boots

Forma Terrain TX motocross boots are flat-out the best sub-$300 boot available. Why? Because they are a European-made mechanical hinge boot at the same price as most made-in-Asia non hinge boots. There is nothing at this price point that comes close to the quality of fit, support, and workmanship. Compared to competitor boots like the Alpinestars Tech 3,Alpinestars Tech 7, etc. the Terrain TX is far more refined, more comfortable, better fitting.

This is the welt-sole version of the Terrain TX, meaning that the sole uses a classic stitched-on method of construction. We prefer this method because it is a little more rigid and be resoled. It also has a little more contoured fit in the toebox. There is also a bonded sole version called the Terrain TX HPS.

These are good for MX (obviously). Also, because of the light weight, they also are quite good for light adventure and dual sport riding. You can check out our review in this video, or for more options check our our comparison of light MX boots.

SIZING: Forma Terrains have a nice wide, roomy, yet comfortable toebox. They are NOT narrow. Sizing is in EU sizes, however, because we have followed the Australian version of Forma's size conversion, you DO NOT need to upsize. Finally, note that these are available in large sizes.

Best boots I have ever owned out of the box. They felt broken in after 20 minutes and sizing is perfect. They do not have the narrow fit of most euro boots. Latches are excellent. I can't comment on the durability yet but the construction and fit and finish seems to be top notch. The hinged ankle is awesome.

starrating great first boot
I had no idea what kind of boot I wanted or needed because I haven't been riding too long and I've been wearing girly zip up boots when I take my bike out. (Keep in mind I am a girl) My boyfriend and I were planning a week long coast ride (part off road) so I figured it was time to buy. I called up the company and talked with Brian who was not only super knowledgable and helpful, but kept my money situation in mind and gave me options based off of my size, trip, budget, etc... I ordered these and got them within 2 days. Now for the's true to size and comfortable. It is easily adjustable depending on your calf and ankle size, and is easy to get on and off. I wear a 9.5 in women's so that is a 7.5 in men's. That is what I got (though conversions on this boot are European) and it's the perfect fit. It is nice and snug but in the perfect way and doesn't put too much pressure on any one area. These are my first boots like I said, and I've heard off-road boots aren't too easy to walk in. These were not to bad though in terms of hopping off a bike and running in the store or walking short distances. My only warning is that if you tighten the second strap up too tight, your shin will become SUPER sore. At one point I was suffering pretty bad because I didn't realize I had it too tight in that area. After a week of wearing them pretty much all day, I think I wore them in and loosened them up enough to recognize how they are supposed to fit and feel on a daily basis. Overall, sweet boot, comfy, cool looking, and awesome company to order from.

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said about these. They are a bargain for the money. The quality and fit is excellent. I wear a lot of minimalist shoes and the wide toe box of these boots really appealed to me. My feet measure almost exactly 10.5" and a 44 fits great. I will say they are pretty snug around the mid-foot/ankle area and don't leave much room for a really thick sock but that isn't a big deal for me. Anyway, just another rave review for these boots as well as the guys from Atomic Moto.

I was fortunate to be able to visit the local Bend, Oregon Atomic-Moto Store and try on their full line of boots. After an hour I settled on the Forma TX as it was the best fitting of the bunch. Brian from A-M was guiding me through the fit process as this was my first pair of boots. I appreciate his expertise and knowledge as he is a long time moto industry veteran and also an avid dual sport rider. My first ride in these was a 100 miler without any fit issues. No buyers remorse here!!

starrating Forma Terrain TX Boots Great!
Went to these from SIDI Charger's and Tech 8's. So far the boots are awesome! Great fit, unbelievably comfortable and well made. The latch system works great and they stay closed. Great feel for shifting and braking. I wear a 10.5 to 11US. Tried the 10.75 and it was too small. Went to 11.5 and that fits great. So go on the bigger side for sizing. Only have 1 negative. I wear OTB Pants. The top of the boots have a huge shin guard. Hard to slip pants over without unbuttoning/zipping them. Once over it they sit fine. I would definitely recommend these. We will see how they wear. I only have about 10 hours on them so far.

starrating Great boot for the money
This is my first hinged boot and those that have not tried one yet I strongly urge you to consider doing so. If it were not for the price point of the Forma Terrain TX I might not have done so as I find it hard to justify the cost of a top of the line boot these days. These boots came out of the box feeling broken in and raise the level of mobility one has both on and off the bike. So much so I decided to ride the Big Woods 200 days after I received them. After more than 200 miles on single track, ATV trails and forest roads, I walked away very pleased with my purchase. The only reason I did not rate this 5 stars was that I definitely noticed the lack of padding in the toe that Atomic does a good job of pointing out in their videos on this product. I feel that even at this aggressive price point the cost to produce and install adequate padding in the toe box could have been accomplished.

starrating TX Terrains well worth the money.
These are great boots and an excellent value for the money. I have only had a chance to wear them once, so I can't really speak about durability yet. But, they are really comfortable and offer nice protection. I started out looking at Tech 7 enduros and the 10s were too small while the 11s were too big. After chatting with the guys at atomic moto they recommended the Terrain TX boots as being comparable to the tech 7s for quite a bit less money. I debated about sizing as most of my running shoes are 11.5 (labeled 45.5 euro) while my dress shoes and hiking boots are 10.5-11. I ordered the 45s first and they are spot on. I've tried them with thin socks, thick hiking socks, and aftermarket insoles and my toes still don't hit the front in any case. For reference, my street boots are A-stars in a size 45.

This in my first pair of off road boots after riding for 40 years. I had no idea what I should look for in a boot except I wanted to keep it below $300. Atomic Moto recommended the Terrain TX, even over a pair of boots that cost $100 more. I'm very happy with these boots. lots of protection, well made and comfortable. Since these do not come half sizes I had o choose between the EU 43(US9) or 44(US10), I'm a solid 9 1/2. Atomic recommended the EU43. They fit great! I weighed each boot, both came in at 3lb. 13oz.. Very happy with my purchase.

starrating Great Boot for the $!
I ride offroad - mostly single track in the woods, with some desert and the motocross track thrown in sometimes, and was looking to replace my well worn mx boots. I was initially looking at either the Sidi Crossfires or the Sidi Charger. The boot I was replacing had a high level of protection, and a half-hinge for movement, and I was not willing to get a boot without at least the same level of protection and flexibility. The Crossfire and the Charger just didn't fit my foot well: I have a medium-wide foot and they were not a good shape for me. I looked at the Gaerne offerings, but the hinge on the SG-10 was narrow on my ankle (I broke my fibula and have a plate and screws that adds some width) but I liked the SG-12, even though it is rather expensive. However, I ran across the Atomic Moto review of the Forma Terrain TX and liked what I saw. I called and spoke to BP and he provided very honest, helpful and straightforward input into the Terrain TX that helped me get a good idea of what the boot would be like. I ordered a pair and have been impressed with the quality of the boot, especially at the price point. It was very comfortable immediately, provides a great level of protection and is well made. The hinge system is not quite as rigid laterally as the Crossfire, but otherwise I don't feel like it gives up anything protection, and at the price difference, I think it is an outstanding buy. Very satisfied with my purchase!

I have worn all the top boots in my 32 years of racing moto. Now that I've started riding more dual sports and some hard woods riding I was looking for a more forgiving boot. After watching Brian's review on the Forma Terrain TX, I tried a pair and could not believe how nice these boots are. With the right amount of protection yet still flexible enough to feel what's going on. I think for the price this is the best boot on the market. Very Happy !

I approached Atomic-Moto for a quality boot for extreme dual-sport boot, as I've failed myself in picking out a great boot. I did not care about brand, as I've struggled with 2 different pairs of AlpineStars M6 and Tech 8 and was leaning towards another top manufacturer. The Bomber team suggested the Terrain TX boot, and helped me extensively with my sizing issues. All I can say is they fit great and love the Forma ankle pivot system, lightweight and so much better than the Tech 8 is ALL areas! They are lightweight, fantastic fitting, they offer complete comfortable protection. Knowing that the Bombers team took the time to offer personalized service in my sizing issues and an unbiased evaluation of many different brands, I'm a loyal customer for life.

starrating Boots are great, Personalized service is Awesome
I spent weeks researching boots for single track & trail riding. I had decided that based on Atomic-Moto's thorough video reviews I would be giving them my business. I sent a question through the website looking for guidance between my top two choices. Brian called me personally and we reviewed the 2 boots I was focused on and he introduced a 3rd option. My final decision was to go with the Forma Terrain TX. I am completely satisfied with the purchase. They are exactly as described and in my opinion an incredible value. A good quality, comfortable, hinged ankle, boot for under $300! Happy with the boots, and a fan for life of Atomic-Moto.

Having never owned a modern pair of motocross boots, I was more then a little hesitant at which direction to take for a good all-around dual sport boot. Luckily, Brian and the good folks at Atomic made finding just the right boot easy with top notch customer service and solid, experience-based advice. I've been using these TXs for several thousand miles of mixed dual sport, single track and daily commuting and am very happy with how they work and feel. The hinged design is highly useful and makes shifting, braking and walking super easy. The aggressive tread on the sole also grips well both on the pegs and off the bike for walkabouts in rocky and muddy terrain. One of the features I've grown to appreciate is the large heel counter, and shin/calf guards as they take a lot of the worse impacts out of the equation while trail riding. Overall, a great pair of boots!

Thanks to the great info on this site it was pretty easy to narrow down my decision to take a shot at these boots. Glad I did because there awesome. I'll pretty much never be able to go back to a non hinged design. They are better quality than anything I looked at locally at this price range and walking around in them, with the hinge, is pretty sweet. I did have to adjust my shifter up a notch as they are a little thicker in the toe than my old boots.

I bought a pair of these after talking with Brian and getting his advice. I have been used to top end Sidi and Alpine Stars but was looking for something lighter and more comfortable, while giving me the protection I need for serious off road riding. These boots fit the bill perfectly. Way comfortable and well made. Durability and protection with hinge design seem very good. Highly recommended!
