The BOMBERS say the Gaerne GX-1 boot is the best motocross boot available at the $200 price point. Made in Italy, the GX-1 is better than MX boots costing up to $300. It is protective enough for serious motocross, but comfortable enough for enduro and even dual sport use.

Gaerne is different than most boot companies. They focus on making the best boots while other product managers spend time shaving costs on their Excel spreadsheets. Gaerne's commitment has been paying off, they are steadily growing and frankly eating everyone else's lunch.

These GX-1 boots are near-perfect for off road, dual sport, and ADV riding. Light, sturdy, not too stiff, and comfortable for long rides. Easy to walk in, shift, yet great support. There are many boots at the $200 price point. However, NONE OF THEM HAVE THE QUALITY AND FIT OF THESE GX-1s. They are our BOMBER RECOMMENDED choice for this price point. Basta.

starrating Great boot for the money
About as flexible a boot as you can get without jumping up to the articulated ankle boots, which are way more expensive. Easy to buckle, great shin protection and of course nothing beats Italian leather! For me they ran about a half a size big. I usually where an 11 but ordered the 10 and they fit just a little snug. I think the 11 would have been too big. I had to do the same with my G-RT boots. My one complaint would be that the ankle protection disk/cup you see molded into the plastic tends to flex inward at the top when you bend your ankle rubbing the side of your shin a bit. First day it bothered me quite a bit and I had a big red spot on my leg from it. I went with thicker socks, and after a few days it got much better. Price you pay for the flexibility...

starrating GREAT BOOT FOR $
I have owned several street level boots including Sidici and Alpinestar. The GX-1 boot is a great ADV level boot that provides decent protection in a flexible boot that is reasonably comfortable. The construction is top notch and should hold up to years of abuse if maintained properly like most higher-end leather products. I do not know how these will be in the heat of the Arizona desert summer but once I experience it I will update this review. Light weight enough to provide good athleticism while riding for an older fart like me (50+).

starrating Rad boots for great price.
First off, I'd like to point out that the Atomic Moto shop has great customer service. They called me to follow up with a sizing question and gave me good, comprehensive advice about how to size the boots relative to other boots and shoes I've owned over the years. Second, the Gaerne GX-1s are awesome. They are quite lightweight, and definitely also on the lighter side of protection, but for the price you will not find a comparable boot. Very "wearable" out of the box. I'll definitely consider another Gaerne product when/if it's time for an upgrade down the line, but these boots are fantastic considering the price and I don't anticipate having to replace them any time soon

starrating Great Boots
I recently got back into enduro riding after a long layoff. After seeing the guys I ride with crash a few times, I decided to get some decent boots for protection...just in case my number came up! My buddies rushed out and bought some online without doing research. I took my time and found the Atomic Moto website and watched some videos and read some Bomber reviews and bought some Gaerne GX-1s. They fit great and are broken in now after about 8 hours of riding. What's funny is that neither one of my buddies are wearing their boots because they were so uncomfortable - idiots for wasting their money! Maybe they will suck up their pride and listen to me and the Bombers and buy some GX-1s! A really good boot for the price - thanks Atomic Moto!

starrating Good boot
Easier to walk in than my comp 5's. The shaft of the boot is a bit narrow however. I don't think my calves are all that large but with socks and shin/knee guards I'm at the limits of the to two straps. Quality is very good. Buckles are much easier to use than other brands.

starrating Excellent Value
This seems like a whole lot of boot for the price. They are well constructed, with generous padding. I have a narrow "low volume' ankle and wide foot. Adding a thin pair of insoles improved the fit, as they tend to run a tad large--excellent for those with wide feet and thunder-calves. The buckles are metal, and replaceable. Sensitivity on the gear shift seems excellent. I have not tested the waterproofness. I would buy these again and highly recommend them to a friend.

starrating Adventure and dual sport riders take note
Ive been riding Harleys since 1992 and I'm 55 years old. I now ride a V-Strom 650 adventure bike. I put 9,000 miles on last year and started doing a lot of off road. I wanted a boot that offered protection, quality, and comfort. I worked outside for 20 years and also ski, and ride horses so I know boots. I have had many motorcycle boots over the years as well but never had a motocross boot. I felt like this boot would be overkill but after talking to Brian, I bought it. He spent way too much time with me and I know I wore him out , but he really listened. So, let me tell you about the boots. They showed up in 2 days!!!!! I wear a 10 1/2 to 11 and ordered a 46 which I thought was going to be to big but it is perfect. I bought a gel foot bed for it and it is perfect. When you first get the boot it is stiff all the way around. I went hiking in them for a week and put 400 miles of hard riding on the boots and now they are broke in an feel great. I had to adjust my toe shifter up a little and it took some time to get use to. Now, this boot is the bomb. Quality is huge and comfort is 10 out of 10, PROTECTION is the best I can get. We seldom think about what you should have on when you go down. I feel safer in this boot than any I have ever worn and I love them. 200 bucks. If you ride adventure please consider this boot, it offers much more protection than most and is really spot on. I love this boot.

starrating Wow! Nice Boot!
This is a very comfortable boot right out of the box. I have done a handful of rides, and so far there is very little wear. The video review from Atomic, and all the online comments really helped in this decision. My last boots were from AXO, and this is a huge step in a more comfortable/durable direction. These are easy to shift in, and have saved my feet in the rocks a couple of times already. When I ride with my daughter I have to get on and off the bike quite a few times, and they are not bad to walk in. Thanks Atomic Moto for a great shopping experience, fair prices on product, and free shipping. I have already recommended them once (the boots and Atomic Moto) and will continue to do so.

starrating Best boot for your buck
After having these boots for 2 months all I can say is WOW! Brian helped steer me in the right direction of which boot would serve me best. I ride a 300 exc on and off road, so a protective dual sport capable boot was needed. These boots fit like a glove and are comfy and easy to walk in right out of the box. It's spring right now so they've been through 2 months of muck and water and I haven't had wet feet yet. You don't get any of that painful plastic digging into your ankles like some of the cheaper boots give you when being worn the first few times. These things are awesome. Much better than some $300 boots I've owned previously. I've even started wearing them at the track while riding my kx250. My alpinestars have been lonely since these arrived. Best boots for the money spent. Hands down. I recommend these to anyone who rides. They make a great dual sport, adventure and even track boot.

starrating Great Dual Sport Boot
I ordered these a few months ago after getting outstanding customer support from the Atomic Moto team. I can honestly say I have never worked with a company so interested in making sure you get what you want and need, and not just what they are trying to sell. After asking a lot of questions, and corresponding with Brian through a few emails, he recommended the GX-1 for my riding style. I ride a KLR650 and ride 70/30 or so on the street. I was looking for more protective than comfortable boot, but this fills both requirements. The construction and finish are top notch. They seem to offer a lot of protection for a "entry level" offering. When you are on the bike they are comfortable enough to not even notice you're wearing them. I wear Olympia AST pants and the boots can either fit under or over the pants. They are definitely warm, but with some good socks, they should be cool enough for summer. When walking around, they are a bit awkward and stiff, but not like a pair of ski boots. They are definitely easy for walking, as long as it isn't for hours. The soles are rather smooth, but they are still very grippy, even on the crappy stock KLR pegs. Overall, these are great boot. I wear between 12.5-13 in shoes and boots, normal width. The 47s fit me great, and the toe box is generous enough to fit thicker socks without any issues. The only problem I have had with these boots is the need to change my shift lever for an IMS extended shifter on my KLR. As soon as I swapped that out, everything worked great.

starrating Great so far!
These are my first boots, and I've only rode in these boots about 3 times. But, so far they seem to be great! Pretty easy shifting and flexibility right out of the box. Fitment is pretty good, and the buckles are great. Makes them very easy to get on and off. I have walked a good bit in these boots and don't have much to complain about on that part. Nice and comfy for a riding boot. I will update the review after I get some more experience with these. So far so good!

All I have to say is that these boots are awesome, simply awesome. I've taken them on a couple light rides as of yet, but am already pleased with their performance. Beyond that the service from atomic was absolutely amazing. They helped me with sizing and the boots arrived within two days. So overall I am very happy with the purchase.
