Rockgardn Flak Jacket Base

OK, follow along with us here, the Rockgardn Flak Jacket Base body armor is one of those cool, clever finds that work fantastic, but are hard to explain. The Flak Jacket Base is a very lightweight, breathable, comfortable base layer with hard elbow elbow and shoulder guards. This piece can be easily worn under your jersey, and combined with your favorite chest / back protector over it. By separating these two pieces, you get 10x more ventilation, stretch, freedom of movement, and comfort, and FULL Leatt compatibility - without sacrificing protection. It sounds confusing, but it works absolutely terrific.

The Base hosts the shoulder, bicep, elbow and forearm guard protection, as well as shoulder adjustment straps. Cheater straps between the bicep and elbow pads allow for more exact positioning of the elbow/forearm guard protection. Upper chest features a cut-in of Spandex mesh for added comfort when worn directly against the skin. Adjustable shoulder straps allow you to position the back and chest to your exact body shape.

Our favorite combo is to wear the Rockgardn base under the jersey, with the Leatt Adventure Body Vest Lite over it. The protection offered by this combo is as good as any body armor, yet it feels lighter, more breathable, and more comfortable. The difference is huge. The concept of us pushing these two items is a marketing train wreck, but the result is outstanding.

	Comfortable Base Protection
	I too followed Atomic Moto's recommendation and got the Rockgardn Flak Jacket Base with the Leatt Adventure Body Vest Lite. This combo works fantastic with my Leatt neck brace. I tried several chest protectors and jackets before I stumbled on this recommendation. I am sure glad I found it. It works great and is extremely comfortable. I followed the chest measurement recommendations and went with the S/M, but it was too tight around the waist. I am 6'1, 170 lbs, with a 33" waist. Atomic Moto was great to work with in exchanging the S/M for an L/XL which works great. I highly recommend the products and the seller!!!

	A Good Base Protection Layer
	As recommended by Atomic Moto, I purchased the Rockgardn Flak Jacket Base and the Leatt Adventure Body Vest Lite. The Flak Jacket Base seems well-made and fits well, if a little tight. I'm 6'3" and 225# and it's a snug fit. Not uncomfortable but I do wish the forearm adjusting straps had another 1" of adjustment. On the flip side, the armor is kept in place... as I tested on my first ride. I was chasing two friends through a narrow wash with rocky walls when my front tire washed out and I went flying into the wall. My right elbow and shoulder slammed into a rock and my helmet into the dirt. Other than soreness in my left collar bone (due to the Leatt doing its job), I was not injured at all and was able to keep riding. The elbow guard did it's job perfectly. Definitely recommended!!
