The BOMBERS have been looking for a nice entry level off-road boot for quite some time. Something simple, sturdy, offering good support, and versatile enough for off-road, DS, or ADV. We looked at about a dozen different brands, and tested several. Most of the stuff we looked at either had no support, fit horribly, or pinched during flex. The BOMBERS were bummed.
Finally, after a while, our man Stevens at AXO talked us into looking at these AXO Boxers. We were shocked when we opened the box...they were great, and under our budget. In fact, they are LESS THAN A HUNDRED BUCKS. DID YOU CATCH THAT??
Instead of trying to do something fancy, Kenny and the AXO boys took a simple, traditional boot design and executed it well. 4 buckles, nice stiff sole, good plastic shapes, a steel toe cap, and a simple yet trick internal brace that gives good ankle support. The fit is solid, and can be improved even more by adding a trick sports insole. Sweet.
We just cannot emphasize enough what a screaming deal these are. Let us be clear, they are not the equivalent of a $300 race boot,but they don't cost $300 either. The BOMBERS are a picky bunch, but these surprised us. If you want a boot for less than $129, this is the best one out there. And they are waaay less than $129.
