The Forma Predator Boots are the flagship model in the Forma line. Featuring a really trick dual-pivot hinge (first ever!!) and extensive padding, Forma is aiming to make the best MX boot in the world. They use all premium materials, no bootie (which is the way we prefer) and have amazing protection.

Our first set of Predators impressed us immediately with several things. The design is pure boot eye candy, they are incredible to look at. But one thing really stood out: the incredible comfort. They are one of the most padded MX boots sold, and have a plush feel. Foot chamber is wide, and fit is excellent. They did size about .25 - .5 of a EUROPEAN size small (probably from all the padding). Ankle action is excellent, and feedback for controls is great.

The Predators are very, very impressive. Build quality is on par with anything from our fave brand, Gaerne, also TCX, and perhaps better than Alps. Sidi still has a slight edge there, but the Predators rival them for comfort.

Congrats Forma.

Some background – I am not a pro MX’r. I am an out of shape, over 50 re-introducing myself to riding after a 30+ year hiatus of riding dirtbikes with a lower MSRP than these boots. Now to the boots. Out of the box – I was impressed with their comfort and what appears to be a robust design for foot protection. I compared them side by side with a new pair of Alpinestar Tech 10’s, which also seem incredibly strong and protective, but was not liking the feel of the booty and I’m sure a lengthy break in period for someone who doesn’t get a lot of ride time. I have now used the Predators twice. The first time was to break them in on a 1 hour TRIALS practice ride. Yes Trials, not Trails. Breaking in these boots is really not needed with the dual pivots. The 2nd time was a 125 mile Dual Sport that was mostly roots, rocks and mud trails for terrain, some considered very technical even for experienced riders. It took me about 5 hours to complete. During the ride, what I noticed about the boots was nothing. No pain, no miss shifts, nothing awkward. I did/do have some concerns. One is the buckle, it does seem a little flimsy for the boot. The other was the preplacement sole patch (the black inlay). When I ordered the boots, I was expecting what I say as a saw tooth design for the pegs. These have a flat boat shoe type. I did email Formaboots USA who replied quickly that they could be replaced with other options, but they seemed to grip the pegs rather well for my needs. For sizing, I wear 10 ½ (US) in almost every shoe. The 45’s fit perfect. Sorry for the long review. Hope it helps.
