- Sidi Crossfire 3 TA Boots
These boots are just great. They are both sturdy and comfortable. I feel extremely well protected whenever i ride wearing them.
Brian was awesome working with me to find boots that would best fit my wide shaped feet. These are incredible boots.
I have been wearing Sidi Crossfire TA's for many years. I was considering changing to one of Sidi's new models, but after a very helpful talk with Brian, I settled back on the Crossfire 3 TA. It has a few updates from my previous version--the toe box is roomier and the ankle fit is different, but they promise to be the perfect boot for the kind of riding I do.
Brian at Atomic is the best in the biz. He knows his stuff. Amazing customer service over the last 10 years!
I've been wearing Forma Adventure highs for a couple of years, but after a broken collarbone. took a serious look at my gear from a protection point of view, and it was time for a change.
Having watched many videos and reviews on Youtube, I decided on either Gaerne Fast Backs, or the Forma ADV PRO. Based on many comments I'd read, I decided to call Brian before buying anything. I'm glad I did. After a short discussion of my needs and riding style, he recommended the Crossfire as the best protection around. I drove to a local shop who had them to try them on, and....absolutely HATED THEM. I have wide feet, so I'm used to pain in the width , but this was in the ankle. The padding felt like my ankles were clamped in a vice. I then did a lot of reading online, where I found similar complaints, then called Brian again. He sent me a pair to wear around the house to see if the fit improved, and it DID. It takes about 20 minutes of mild discomfort for the padding to literally mold to my ankle. It still feels somewhat like a vice, but a padded vice, if that makes any sense. It feels SAFE. I can wear them for hours and not feel any pain or discomfort, which I find amazing. Walking is not an issue, either. Comfortable is not a word I would use to describe them, but they aren't meant to be. I feel absolutely safe, protected and confident when I wear them. I'll keep my Forma for street riding, but when conditions are sketchy, I'm going with confidence that I have the best protection.
These boots offer excellent ankle and lower leg protection with their double hinge. They fit true to size, and handle normal width and wide feet well. I also like that they "seem" smaller in thattheycan fit your leg well without knee braces or guards. I also consider them generally lightweight, and very comfortable. When on special they are a phenomenal deal for a high protection boot. Not thehighest, but high.
I prefer the precision of the Crossfire 2 SRS but the comfort of the Crossfire 3TA. The Crossair are far better than both-- very precise shifting, better grip on the pegs, better feel on the pegs, and a comfortable toe box like the TA, but not too wide. The three buckles are great and I can go from no knee braces on my ADV bike around town to knee braces for off-roading and dirt biking without having to adjust the buckles. On/off is easy. The lightness is really great, it will be hard to go back. I wear 9.5 in street shoes and 43 fits perfectly with room for a comfort sole upgrade (always thin wool socks for me btw). I thought about getting the HD version but the trial sole just hooks up too much on the pegs making shifting a PIA (I installed trials soles on my TAs). I don't ride hard enduro--in 1st/2nd gear only with my feet on the ground half the time-- and the Crossair soles are plenty grippy for the technical single track, especially compared to rock hard, slippery SRSs. They're vastly better than a trials sole for ADV riding on and off road because shifting is just easier sitting and standing. I try not to dab on big bikes anyway. They also currently cost about half as much as the HD version.
These boots are just great. They are both sturdy and comfortable. I feel extremely well protected whenever i ride wearing them.
Took a bit to break in but once broken in the boots are great! Comfy and good protection!
Brian with Atomic Moto is by far one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to dirt bike boots and proper fitting. He took the time to help me find the right boots, answered all my questions, and made sure everything fit perfectly. Communication was great, he was genuinely nice to work with, and the entire experience went smoothly. Itβs rare to find someone this helpful, trustworthy, and experienced. Highly recommended!
