It was time for a new all weather jacket and I decided to upgrade to no liner. Atomic Moto/Brian was most helpful, as usual. We discussed my bike (R1200gs), riding preferences (lots of forest & farm roads...dirt & gravel, multi-day, camping), age, and sizing. He helped go thru the many options and choose between the options. Excellent service!
The fit is trim with room for a puffy underneath and plenty of sleeve length for my long arms. Not sure I will use the multitude of pockets but there are many options. Appears very well made with quality features - yes, it is a Klim.
I have been out for two day rides. Very comfortable on the bike. Two comments on the zippers: the forearm zippers feel stiff and long, poking into the bend of my elbow. I hope they 'soften' up. Second, I was pleased how easily the zippers opened while riding (the zippers on my Carlsbad pants require much more effort). The airflow on a 78 degree day was very good. Thanks Atomic Moto!
The Carlsbad jacket and pants saved me from serious injury in a recent accident. I recently came off at 80km in outback Australia. Slid down the dirt road with the bike on top of me. I suffered a broken ankle and that is all. No other bruising or grazes, no gravel rash. The broken ankle was due to foot catching the edge of the road and rotating.
After a couple of rides I am really liking these boots and looking forward to the protection they will offer. They are surprisingly comfortable right out of the box. My Revit OTB pants fit over them and can also comfortably go inside - my pants just have a gusset and velcro, no zipper so fold really flat to go inside easily.
On sizing I'd say if you are using the Euro sizing as your guide they run small but more true to size on US sizing. I usually wear a 41 in boots (like my Forma ADV touring) and Women's size 9 or 10 which is US Men's 7 - 8. I originally ordered the 41 but it was just too tight and had to return those and size up to the 42. I've never worn a 42 in anything else before so I hesitated but the 42 fits great. I have wide feet and the toe box is nice and roomy.
Definitely a new style of boot for me vs my Forma ADV's. Had to lift my shift lever up one notch and adapt my shifting technique but after a couple of rides I'm getting the hang of it.
I think these boots look great and the quality feels really solid. I suspect these will last me a very long time!
Excellent boots and great help from Brian!
Wore them indoors for a couple hours before I knew they'd fit. The forefoot needed to stretch a little. Viola, comfy boots.
Than you,
Bruce
I purchased the Sidi X-Power SC boots after breaking my ankle in the Astars Tech 7’s last July.I was looking for a boot with a high level of protection but with enough padding to not aggravate the new hardware that my ankle has been adorned with. These Sidi’s fill the bill. More protection than the Adventure Highs and Mids yet the same level of comfort. Excellent boots for me.
Have not wore them for long but they were comfortable almost immediately. Brian was great in helping me get the right pair. Repeat customer and will continue to be!
Great product and Great service.
